The historical rock paintings of Kondoa are said to date back more than 1500 years, and give an impressive insight into Tanzania’s ancient culture. The images in red or white show people and animals as well as fascinating African geometrical shapes, and can be found in several hundred caves and rock overhangs in hills that form the western part of the Rift Valley. Kondoa lies just south of Tarangire National Park, and is a must-visit for art- and history lovers alike!
